The Museum and History Center building was built by W. B. Roddenbery in 1920 and initially housed the Cairoga Club on the second floor and three store fronts at street level. The W. B. Roddenbery Company offices occupied the second floor from 1932 to 1970. The building was donated to the Grady County Historical Society in November of 1993 for use as a museum. The Board of Commissioners of Grady County assumed ownership in 1994 and leases the building to the Historical Society for as long as it remains in use 'as a museum or depository for historical or other items of interest to citizens of Grady County.

Damage to the building in October of 1997, was repaired and renovations to the first section of the building were completed. In 1998 a second section of the building was renovated. At present over $184,000 has been spent on repairs, renovations and improvements.  Funds have come from an insurance claim, Governor's Discretionary Fund Grants, Society fundraisers, and a $50,000 matching grant from an anonymous donor.
